Sustainability

Istanbul Plastik adopts an environmentally friendly approach by producing in accordance with solar energy standards. Thanks to the renewable energy sources used in our products, we contribute to the protection of natural resources. For this reason, we are proud to have Istanbul Plastik GES (Solar Energy Standard) certificate.

In order to leave a better world to future generations, it is necessary to understand and implement the concept of sustainability. As Istanbul Plastik, we have been producing within the framework of international standards in order to leave a nature-friendly, respectful to human beings and a much more beautiful world to future generations within the framework of sustainability since the first day we were established.

Solar Panels and Sustainability: Illuminating the Future

Today, energy demand is constantly increasing and traditional energy sources are rapidly depleting. Therefore, the need for sustainable energy sources is greater than ever. Solar energy plays an important role in this respect. Solar panels offer an environmentally friendly energy source with the potential to convert solar energy into electricity.

Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight through photovoltaic (PV) cells. These cells generate electric current using electrons that are activated when exposed to sunlight. No harmful gases or environmental pollution are released during this process. Therefore, solar panels are an environmentally friendly method of energy production.

Solar energy is key to sustainability as it is a renewable resource. Sunlight is an infinite resource and has the potential to provide energy for future generations. Solar panels can generate electricity using solar energy and in this way reduce the use of fossil fuels. While greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere from the combustion of fossil fuels cause environmental problems such as climate change, solar energy is a clean and renewable energy source.

100% Transformable Products

One hundred percent recyclable products are a must for the protection of nature and to leave a much more livable world for future generations. Recycling is defined as the activity of treating materials or products using a special industrial process so that they can be used again. If plastic materials are produced with recyclable raw materials, they make a great contribution to the protection of nature. At the same time, economically, it creates savings in many different areas, especially energy. For example, when approximately 1 ton of plastic are recycled, there is:

• Energy savings of 5,744 kWh,

• Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 41 tons,

• 23 m3 of storage space saved.

Istanbul Plastik adopts the concept of sustainability with the principle of “Our Common Future”. All products prepared in the factories are produced from environmentally friendly and 100% recyclable materials. Having ISO 14001 certification, Istanbul Plastik designs all processes from raw materials to the final product offered to the consumer to prevent any damage to the environment.

Environmentally Friendly for Sustainability: PVA Film and Other Products

Istanbul Plastik R&D teams design new products in a completely eco-friendly and 100% recyclable manner with an understanding of sustainability. After about two years of intensive work, water-soluble PVA Film took its place in the market as an environmentally friendly, innovative product in 2014. PVA Film offers environmentally friendly solutions in many different areas that require special sensitivity such as fishing, construction, detergent, embroidery and agriculture. Our company designs not only PVA Film but also dozens of different types of products in an environmentally friendly and 100% recyclable manner that will contribute to our “Common Future”. Other products developed within the scope of sustainability understanding are shrink films, bags, bags, stretch films, Polyolefin and PVC Shrink Films. Istanbul Plastik works to make the world more livable and to leave a much more beautiful world to future generations.

Sustainability: "Our Common Future"

The concept of sustainability was first used in the report titled “Our Common Future” published by WCED (World Commission on Environment and Development) in 1987. The concept has made a name for itself in many different fields until today. In summary, the concept is defined as “The principle that is based on both the protection of resources and the prevention of risks that may occur for life while meeting human needs in any field”. Within the framework of the sustainability principle, Istanbul Plastik realizes its production with the awareness of “Our Common Future”. Istanbul Plastik generates 100% of its energy from renewable energy.
